ALUCAST 2011

Some of the memorable moments of ALUCAST 2011 held in Gurgaon (December 9 & 10, 2011).

The annual conference of the Aluminium Casters' Association of India was held on 9 and 10, December 2011 at the "Epicenter", Gurgaon. True to tradition, 2011 being an odd year, the event consisted of only Conference where Technnical Papers were presented by National and International authors.

The theme of Conference was "Optimization of Die Casting Processes". It generated interest amongst members and delegates throughout the country, and some from abroad also. This was in turn reflected in the high standard of papers presented and the near full-house(300) attendance of delegates in all the sessions.

Inaugural Ceremony

Mr. P .N. Sadhu, former President of ALUCAST and leading light of the Organising Committees gave the privilege of inaugurating the Conference to the youngest members of the Association attending the Conference. After the youngsters it was the the turn of the dignitaries.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Ujjwal Munjal, Executive Director, Rockman Industries Ltd., Ludhiana delivered the key-note address. A young business tycoon of global standing, Mr.Munjal delivered his immaculate address to the audience with precision and time consciousness. His personal conviction reflected in his speech that included overview of present global scenario for die casting business, highlighting the challenges and suggesting future strategies.

Mr. Munjal released the Dec.2011 issue of ALUCAST Journal, the official journal of the Aluminium Casters' Association of India, assisted by Mr.N.Ganesan, Editor.

Dr. Fritsche, President, Buhler Die Casting, declared open the Catalogue Show, which provided table space for displaying product literature related to die casting technology. Buhler, the swiss company that manufactures the world famous Buhler die casting machines is the Chief Patron and Principal sponsor of ALUCAST events since over a decade.

Some "Firsts"

For the first time event this event was managed by the Delhi Centre of the association on and of their own! It was heartening to observe young and old busy with the task. It is to be learnt that, in future events, the centre that hosts such an event would undertake the responsibility of event management.

The most astonishing and relieving aspect was the presence of all the delegates in all the six technical sessions. Each paper presentation invoked audience interaction which, at times, was awkward for the session chairpersons to short-close due to time constraints. The presenters too expressed their thoughts with enthusiasm in all sessions. The entire atmosphere inside auditorium was charged up. It was extremely encouraging to experience a paper presentation by a young female expert and scholar in the conference.

Names of all sponsors were mentioned on a single board at the reception itself in bold letters. Yet, the quality of mementos, material in delegate kits and all stations of F & B service must have satisfied them fully.

Evening Entertainment Programs

On the evening of the first day (December 9), a variety entertainment program of song and dance a la "BrijwasiRaaslila" was conducted. Floral "Holi" brought one and all on their feet and onto the stage!

Valedictory Function

In his Valedictory address, Mr.Sudam Maitra, CMO, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. complemented the organisers of ALUCAST 2011 for successfully organising the event. He praised the high standard of technical papers presented and declared that Maruti would continue to give support to ALUCAST in all its activities. He presented the Mementos to the participants.

All in all, the experience was truly unique!
